Fuel system
As a result of production and across its entire service life each injector is characterized by different tolerances. The tolerance for the injected fuel quantity can be significantly reduced with an individual actuation duration. As a result, small fuel injection rates can be maintained at a constant level. Engine control can subsequently adapt to a fuel injection rate drift caused by ageing injectors. As a result, the fuel injection rate can be maintained at a constant level for the majority of the service life.
