SERVICE INFORMATION
This Service Information bulletin supersedes SI M09 01 16 dated April 2016.
SITUATION
The current application of IRAP will be phased out at the end of 2016. The new IRAP protocol is called IRAP Next. IRAP Next is easier to use, no longer requires a boot-up CD, is more stable and can transmit data at higher speeds. This will help reduce vehicle down time and expand the number and types of jobs that can be carried out by the IRAP team.
In addition to IRAP Next, we are pleased to announce that the new hours of the IRAP Team will be in line with the PuMA Hotline and TeileClearing. The hours are 8:30am-7:30pm EST.
We have also introduced a backup email address. This can be used in case PuMA is not operational or if you have any IRAP related questions. The address is IRAPUSA@bmwna.com.
CAUSE
Based upon IT demands, feedback and the increasing size of vehicle's software files, a more stable and user friendly IRAP platform has been developed.
PROCEDURE
Please view the attachment named "IRAP Next procedure" for instructions on the setup/use of IRAP next.
Please view the attachment named "Current IRAP jobs and repairs" for a current list of all IRAP related functions that can be carried out by the IRAP team. This list will be constantly updated as jobs and repairs are added and/or removed. This will keep all centers up to date on all current IRAP functions.
Please note: IRAP is not a substitute for diagnosis, ISTA or ISTA/P. Unless specifically stated in an SI B or Advanced Information, all standard means of diagnosis and programming/coding should be carried out prior to submitting a PuMA case for IRAP.
