Battery management electronics (SME)

The battery management electronics (SME) controls and coordinates the energy flow in the high-voltage battery. It also monitors and calculates the state variables of the high-voltage battery (lithium ion battery).

High demands are placed on the service life of the high-voltage battery (service life of the vehicle). To meet these demands, the high-voltage battery is operated within a precisely defined range to achieve the best possible service life.

Booting of the high-voltage electrical system occurs via the interaction of the electrical machine electronics (EME) and the battery management electronics (SME). The electrical machine electronics (EME) system is the master and the battery management electronics (SME) a slave. The two control units communicate via the PT-CAN2.
