32 31 090 Removing and installing/replacing steering column

Necessary preliminary tasks  :

Removal  :

Feed out steering column shroud (1) from instrument cluster holder (2).

Release clamping bolt (1).

Release steering column from steering shaft (2).

Release nuts (1) on bottom of steering column (2).

Unscrew nuts (1).

Unclip wiring harness holder from steering column.

Carefully remove steering column (2) towards the front.

Installation  :

Replacement only:

Remount sheet metal nuts (1).

Carefully insert and position steering column (2) in instrument panel trim.

Secure wiring harness on steering column.

Tighten down nuts (1).

Tightening torque 32 31 1AZ .

Tighten nuts (1) on bottom of steering column (2).

Tightening torque 32 31 1AZ .

Insert steering column into steering shaft (2).

Tighten clamping bolt (1).

Part  : Renew clamping bolt (1).

Tightening torque 32 31 3AZ .

Feed instrument cluster holder (2) through steering column shroud (1).

If necessary, feed wiring harness instrument cluster (3) through steering column shroud (1).
