32 32 001 Replacing complete steering lock

CAUTION: After assembly, check all functions of ignition starter switch, indicator lamps, wipers etc.

Remove upper steering spindle bearing. Refer to 32 31 151 REPLACING UPPER STEERING SPINDLE BEARING .

Remove ring antenna.

If necessary, remove cable for Interlock. Refer to 32 32 170 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING INTERLOCK CABLE .

Unfasten screw and lift off bracket for wiring harness.

Unlock connector from ignition starter switch and remove.

Unfasten shear-off screw with tool, e.g. chisel.

Remove plate (1) and steering lock (2).

Installation: 

  1. Tighten new shear-off screws to shearing point.

Remove lock cylinder and install in new steering lock. Refer to 32 32 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OR REPLACING STEERING-LOCK CYLINDER .

Remove retaining paint, unscrew and remove grub screws and fit ignition starter switch to new steering lock.

Installation: 

  1. Secure headless screws with varnish.
