Power Steering Gear: Notes

CAUTION:
Make sure all parts are absolutely clean. No dirt is allowed to enter the system. Seal off pipe connections with plugs.
CAUTION:
There will no longer be an end stop once the steering spindle has been separated from the steering gear. The steering wheel can be turned without restriction. Turn steering wheel to straight ahead position (markings on cap (1) and on housing (2) must be aligned) to avoid damaging contact ring in steering column. See Figure. Engage steering lock and remove ignition key.
