32 13 060 Removing and installing hydraulic steering gear (AWD vehicles)
RISK OF INJURY if oil comes into contact with eyes and skin!
Close off line connections with seal plugs.
Necessary preliminary work
- Draw off and dispose of hydraulic fluid from oil reservoir
- Remove front anti-roll bar. See FRONT ANTI-ROLL BAR or FRONT ACTIVE ANTI-ROLL BAR .
- Lower FRONT AXLE SUPPORT
- Remove TRACK ROD END ON BOTH SIDES FROM SWIVEL BEARING
Release screw (1).
Disconnect lines (2) and (3) from power steering gear.
Installation note:
Replace sealing rings.
Tightening torque 32 41 5AZ .
If necessary, release block screw connection (1).
Release line holder (2) and remove line (3) to the steering gear.
Tightening torque 32 41 11AZ .
Release screw connection (1) if necessary (only on vehicles with Dynamic Drive)
Tightening torque, 37 13 5AZ
Release line holders (2) and (4).
Tightening torque 32 41 7AZ .
Remove bracket (3) from front axle carrier.
Tightening torque 32 41 12AZ .
Remove hydraulic line!
Detach plug (1) from EH converter.
When removing the steering gear, pay attention to female connector.
To do so, draw a wide white stripe on the front bolting points (left and right) and apply a thin black marking (3) to this stripe.
Release screws (1).
Carefully push line (2) up.
Remove hydraulic steering gear in downward direction.
Installation note:
Replace bolts.
Tightening torque 32 00 1AZ .
After installation
- Fill and bleed hydraulic system. See BLEEDING POWER STEERING UNIT or BLEEDING POWER STEERING (VERSION WITH DYNAMIC DRIVE) .
- Check line connections for leak tightness
- If necessary, carry out INITIAL OPERATION FOR DYNAMIC DRIVE
