13 54 030 Removing And Installing/Sealing Throttle Valve Assembly (S54)

Special tools required:

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Read out fault memory of DME control unit.
Switch off ignition.
Follow instructions for disconnecting and connecting battery. See 12 00... INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING BATTERY .
Disconnect BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD and cover.
Remove intake air manifold. See 11 61 050 REMOVING AND INSTALLING AIR INTAKE MANIFOLD (S85) .

Removing throttle valve assemblies 6-10:

Release screws and detach injection pipe (1) from throttle valve assemblies.

Remove pull rod (2).

Unlock plug (3) and remove.

Unclip lines (1).

Release bolts and remove cover (2).

Tightening to specified torque, see 13 54 2AZ in 13 54 THROTTLE AND ACTUATOR .

Release nuts with special tool 34 3 171.

Remove throttle valve assemblies 6-10.

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on correct installation (see below).

Removing throttle valve assemblies 1-5:

Release screws and detach injection pipe (1) from throttle valve assemblies.

Remove pull rod (2).

Unlock plug (1) and remove.

Release wiring harness from retaining clip (2).

Release nut (3) and disconnect starter positive lead.

Tightening to specified torque, see 12 52 2AZ in 52 CONNECTORS, PLUGS .

Unfasten nut.

Carefully raise cable duct (4) slightly.

Release nuts with special tool 34 3 171.

Remove throttle valve assemblies 1-5.

Installation:

Clean sealing surfaces (1). Note correct position of adapter sleeves (2).

NOTE: For a better overview, only a removed throttle valve assembly is shown.

Installation:

Clean sealing surfaces on cylinder head.

Replace all O-rings (1) in cylinder head.

NOTE: Perform basic throttle valve setting.
