USB stick for audio tests

In some cases it may be helpful if a USB stick with a suitable track selection is ready for use for an audio test. This USB stick can then be used at the USB audio interface of the vehicle (depending on the equipment).

The following items are required for the creation of an USB stick for audio tests:

  1. A conventional USB stick. This stick must indicate at least the USB 2.0 standard or higher and it may not have more than 8 GB of data storage. Suitable USB sticks are also available through the parts department. The USB stick must formatted in format < FAT32 >.
  2. No more than 10 folders with audio files may be created on the USB stick. (Do not store other data on the USB stick.)
  3. Personal computer to edit the USB stick
  4. Possibly a CD drive to import audio CDs
  5. Possibly an Internet connection and a suitable program to download legal audio files (music download program).

The audio files that are used must have the following format:

  1. Format of the audio file: MP3
  2. Sampling rate: 44.1 kHz
  3. Data transfer rate: 192 kBit/s, 224 kBit/s  or 256 kBit/s  (constant data transfer rate)
  4. Some interference noises can only be reproduced or localized in certain genres. For this purpose, it is helpful to use audio files with different genres (classic, pop, rock, soul, jazz, blues, country).
NOTE: The format of each individual audio file can be checked according to its properties with the personal computer (e.g. for Windows: Right-click on the audio file > properties > details).
