32 31 082 Removing and installing/replacing steering angle sensor

After installation:

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Release clamping screw.

Move steering wheel to straight-ahead position and remove ignition key.

Press down on steering spindle.

Installation: 

Clamping screw must rest in retaining groove of upper steering spindle.

Replace self-locking nut.

Tightening torque, 32 31 1AZ. Refer to STEERING AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES .

Unfasten cable clip.

Detach steering angle sensor (1) from steering spindle.

Installation: 

Pin of pivot mounting (2) must snap into place in steering angle sensor (1).

IMPORTANT: Secure cable with cable tie so that it is not tensioned when steering column is extended and retracted.
