51 16... Instructions on correctly installing cupholder insert (vehicles with automatic transmission only)

Failure to comply with these instructions can result in scratches on the decorative trim of the cupholder.

NOTE: It must be ensured that the left and right retaining tabs (2) of cupholder insert (4) are correctly engaged in the left and right securing eyes (1) of the cupholder housing (3).

Press lid (1) forward all the way and insert cupholder insert (2) without applying force until edge of cupholder insert (3) is parallel to edge of cupholder housing (4).

In doing so, note cable routing of cigarette lighter.

Press left and right sides of cupholder insert (1) down in a slanted direction (direction of arrow) until cupholder insert (1) can be heard to engage.

To lock the rear attachment points (3), press cupholder insert (1) down in marked area (2).

Cupholder insert (1) engages audibly.

To check:

If the cupholder is correctly engaged, the edges of the cupholder insert (2) and cupholder housing (1) are aligned.

Check that the cupholder lid opens and closes easily and smoothly.
