Removal & Installation (V8)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 12 other vehicles, including the 1997 BMW Z3, 1997 BMW M3, 1997 BMW 840Ci, 1997 BMW 740iL, and 1997 BMW 740i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Remove engine cover. See Figure. Disconnect throttle cable at throttle body. Disconnect ignition coils and fuel injectors.
Disconnect fuel lines from fuel rail. Remove fuel rail mounting screws and pull off fuel rail with injectors. Remove retainer from top of fuel injector. See Figure. Remove fuel injector(s). To install, reverse removal procedure. Coat injector "O" rings with petroleum jelly.
