32 31 211 Replacing Universal Joint For Lower Section Of Steering Spindle

Only perform this work after engine has cooled down.
IMPORTANT: Observe safety instructions on raising the vehicle.

After installation:

Necessary preliminary tasks: 

Release clamping screw.

Detach universal joint from power steering gear.

Installation: 

Replace clamping screw.

Tightening torque. See STEERING AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - ALPINA .

Installation: 

If necessary, move power steering gear to straight-ahead position - markings on cap (1) and housing (2) must match up.

Release clamping screw.

Grip steering spindle lower section and pull out universal joint with corrugated tube downwards.

Installation: 

Universal joint can only be attached in one position to lower section of steering spindle.

Replace clamping screw.

Tightening torque. See STEERING AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT - TIGHTENING TORQUES - ALPINA .
