Removal & Installation

- Raise and support front of vehicle.
- Remove front wheel assembly.
- Remove engine splash shield.
- If removing right control arm, remove right side ride level sensor. See FRONT RIDE LEVEL SENSOR .
- Release nut (1) and remove control arm from front axle support. Release nut (2) a few turns so as to prevent control arm from slipping away out of control when it is forced off. See Fig 1 .
- Using special tool (31-2-240), press control arm from steering knuckle. See Fig 2 .
- Remove nut and remove control arm.
- Ensure tapered spigot and bore are free of grease.
- To install control arm, reverse removal procedure. Fit washers (3). See Fig 1 .
- Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Adjust front axle after assembly. See FRONT AXLE under ADJUSTMENTS.
