SUBJECT

MINI Maintenance Program: Annual Low-mileage Engine Oil Changes

SITUATION

Some MINI vehicles with a 24-month "time-based" engine oil service interval may not accumulate enough mileage for the MINI Maintenance System to call for an engine oil service within or just after 12 months, either "Recommended or Due."

MINI USA recommends changing the engine oil and filter after  12 months (365 days) on these low-mileage "24-month" interval vehicles.

NOTE: This service does not apply  to vehicles with 12-month "time-based" engine oil service intervals.

PROCEDURE

When a low-mileage "24-month interval" MINI vehicle arrives at your dealer on the 306th day or later (see the "Recommended period" below), after:

Perform the annual low-mileage engine oil and filter change.

Do not reset the MINI Maintenance System:  This advances the service counter by one, clearing any "combined" service tasks or work that will need to be performed in the future.

NOTE: Additional vehicle fluid top-ups cannot be claimed with this service; washer fluid, for example.

Recommended Period: Annual Low-mileage Engine Oil Change

To promote customer satisfaction, MINI has now opened the parameters of the claim processing system to allow "annual low-mileage engine oil and filter change" claim submissions up to 60 days  before the 366th day.

Claim repair dates on or after the 306th day  will be accepted by the system.

CRITERIA FOR RESETTING THE MINI MAINTENANCE SYSTEM DATA

Condition Based Service (CBS)

If the engine oil service task shows Recommended, Due or qualifies to be performed within the next 60 days or less as outlined is SI M01 06 13 :

  • Perform the oil service as well as any "combined" service tasks and reset the engine oil service CBS data to 100%.

Miles to Service Interval Display (SIA)

When the forecasted remaining miles to the next "OIL SERVICE" or "INSPECTION" are 2,000 miles or less:

  • Perform the service and any required "combined" services, and then reset the SIA data.
