Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 21 other vehicles, including the 2003 BMW M5, 2003 BMW 540i, 2003 BMW 530i, 2003 BMW 525i, and 2002 BMW M5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove wheel.
  2. Partially unfasten rear wheel arch trim, pull plug connector (1) out of bracket and disconnect. See Fig 1 .
  3. Pull cable (1) out of mounting (2). See Fig 2 .
  4. Release hexagon socket head cap screw (1), pull ABS pulse sensor (2 ) out of bore. See Fig 3 .
  5. Clean hole for pulse sensor and grease with Staburags NBU 12/K lubricating grease or equivalent.
  6. Up to 09/98 models, lay ABS pulse generator cable (1) between brake guard plate (2) and mounting point (2) for traction strut. See Fig 4 .
  7. On models from 09/98 on, lay ABS pulse generator cable (1) under mounting point for traction strut (2). See Fig 5 .
  8. Installation is reverse of removal. Ensure proper locking of plug connector.
  9. Tighten wheel lugs to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
