Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 21 other vehicles, including the 2003 BMW M5, 2003 BMW 540i, 2003 BMW 530i, 2003 BMW 525i, and 2002 BMW M5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Open plug housing. Remove plug connection from fixture and disconnect. See Fig 1 .
Remove cable with rubber grommet from fixture on spring strut.

NOTE: Modified ABS pulse sensors are used as of 03/2000. They are secured with one screw only.

Release hexagon-socket head cap screw(s) (1). Pull cable out of fixture on spring strut. Withdraw ABS pulse generator from bore. See Fig 2 .
Clean bore for pulse sensor and grease with Staburags NBU 12/K lubricating grease or equivalent.
Installation is reverse of removal.
Tighten socket head cap screw(s) to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
