61 13 042 Replacing distribution box (luggage compartment)

IMPORTANT: Read and comply with notes on HANDLING WIRING HARNESSES and cables.

Necessary preliminary tasks:

Clamp off BATTERY NEGATIVE LEAD
E72 Only: Disconnect BOTH NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLES
Remove FLAP IN RIGHT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT WHEEL ARCH TRIM

E70:

Release expanding rivets (1).

Remove insulating mat (2).

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Release wiring harness fastener (2) on distribution box.

Release screws (3).

Pull distribution box forwards slightly in direction of arrow.

Feed emergency actuator (4) out of distribution box.

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Disconnect plug connection (1).

Remove distribution box.

Replacement:

Remove fuses and relays.
