12 14 600 Replacing knock sensor
Necessary Preliminary Tasks:
- Switch off ignition.
- Read out fault memory of DME control unit.
- Check stored fault messages.
NOTE:
R50 Only:
Remove intake air manifold. Refer to 11 61 051 REMOVING AND INSTALLING INTAKE MANIFOLD .
Unlock and disconnect knock sensor plug connection.
Release knock sensor screw, remove knock sensor (1).
Installation:
Clean contact surface of knock sensors.
Tightening torque, refer to 12 14 1AZ in ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM - TIGHTENING TORQUES - COOPER (1.6L) R50/W10 .
Observe position of knock sensor in relation to engine block.
At angle of 20° to the perpendicular.
NOTE:
Now clear the fault memory.
