Dashboard Upper Covering

There are two variants of upper dashboard coverings:

The reason for the two different designs is the position of the passenger's airbag.

Vehicles from start of production to 2005MY had the airbag come out of a cover just above the glovebox. As of 2005MY vehicles, the passenger's airbag deploys through preset sheer points of the upper dashboard covering.

On vehicles produced before 2005 MY the dash upper covering is attached to the top of the Dashboard with 4 screws accessed through the removable side panels.

On vehicle produced from 2005MY there are a significantly greater amount of fasteners securing the cover.

Removal of the dash upper covering allows access to the passenger airbag.
