Steering Column: Removal
- Disconnect battery ground cable. Raise vehicle. Loosen steering shaft universal joint clamp bolt. Center steering wheel with wheels in straight-ahead position.
- Remove steering column upper and lower trim covers. Remove hood release bracket attaching screw. Remove lower instrument panel. Disconnect and label wires and connectors.
- Remove steering column mounting bracket attaching nuts and washers. Disconnect switch wiring connectors from turn signal, headlight connector, wiper/washer switch, horn connector, ignition switch gang, and ignition switch bullet connector.
- Pull upward on steering wheel to lift mounting bracket clear of mounting studs, and to disengage steering shaft from universal joint clamp. Remove steering column assembly.
