Removal and Installation

  1. With vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  3. Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor (CMS) electrical connector.
  4. NOTE: If necessary, lubricate the CMS with lock lubricant to aid in removal.
  5. Using the special tool, remove the CMS from the exhaust and discard.
    • To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).

  6. NOTE: Do not reuse CMS. If removed, a new sensor must be installed.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Apply a light coat of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the CMS.
