Removal and Installation

- With vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Disconnect the catalyst monitor sensor (CMS) electrical connector.
- Using the special tool, remove the CMS from the exhaust and discard.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Apply a light coat of anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the CMS.
NOTE:
If necessary, lubricate the CMS with lock lubricant to aid in removal.
NOTE:
Do not reuse CMS. If removed, a new sensor must be installed.
