- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
- Remove the thermostat. For additional information, refer to Thermostat or Thermostat Housing .
- Install the coolant hose connection without the thermostat.
- Using an appropriate cooling system flusher, flush the engine and radiator.
Use cooling system flush for vehicles filled with Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant (yellow color).
- Install the thermostat. For additional information, refer to Thermostat or Thermostat Housing .
- Backflush the heater core if necessary. For additional information, refer to Heater Core Backflushing .
- Fill the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
