Pinpoint Test N: The Power Liftgate Does Not Open/Close Using The Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter
- N1 CHECK THE LOCK/UNLOCK OPERATION FROM THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) TRANSMITTER
- Operate the door locks from the RKE transmitter.
- Do the doors lock and unlock correctly?
Yes : GO to N2.
No : To diagnose the inoperative door locks from the RKE transmitter, GO to PINPOINT TEST G .
- N2 CHECK THE RKE TRANSMITTER INPUT TO THE SMART JUNCTION BOX (SJB)
- Connect the scan tool.
- Key in ON position.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: SJB PIDs.
- Monitor the SJB RKE transmitter power liftgate PID while pressing the RKE transmitter open and close buttons.
- Do the PID values agree with the button presses?
Yes : GO to N3.
No : REPLACE the RKE transmitter. PROGRAM all the RKE transmitters. REFER to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING in this article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
- N3 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
