Windshield Glass: Removal
WARNING:
To prevent glass splinters from entering eyes or cutting hands, wear safety glasses and heavy gloves when cutting glass from the vehicle.
- Remove the A-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the interior mirror. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL .
- Partially lower the front portion of the headliner near the windshield header and block with suitable material. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION FIVE HUNDRED, MONTEGO and REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION FREESTYLE .
- Remove the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Lubricate the existing urethane adhesive with water to aid the special tool while cutting.
- Removing the windshield glass requires more than one technician.
- Using the special tool, cut the urethane adhesive from the windshield glass starting at the top center and working toward the bottom corners.
- Using the special tool, distance the windshield glass from the body.
- Using the special tool, cut the remaining urethane adhesive and remove the windshield glass.
- Using a soft brush or vacuum, remove any dirt or foreign material from the pinch weld.
NOTE:
