Differential Fluid Seals: Removal
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
- Remove the front wheels. For additional information, refer to WHEELS & TIRES .
- Remove both halfshafts. For additional information, refer to FRONT DRIVE HALFSHAFTS .
- Using the special tools, remove the left differential seal.
- Using the special tools, remove the LH differential seal.
- Rotate the Front Cover Seal Remover.
- Rotate the forcing screw while holding the front cover seal remover.
- Remove the metal protector from the LH differential seal and remove the protector from the tool.
- Using the special tools, remove the rubber portion of the LH differential seal.
- Install the special tool into the left differential seal and rotate the Front Cover Seal Remover.
- Rotate the forcing screw while holding the front cover seal remover.
- Remove the rubber portion of the seal.
- Install the special tools into the RH differential seal.
- Using the special tools, remove the RH differential seal metal protector.
- Rotate the Front Cover Seal Remover.
- Rotate the forcing screw while holding the front cover seal remover.
- Remove the metal protector of the seal.
- Using the special tools, remove the rubber portion of the seal.
- Rotate the Front Cover Seal Remover.
- Rotate the forcing screw while holding the front cover seal remover.
- Remove the rubber portion of the seal.
NOTE:
The differential seal is a two-piece constructed seal.
