Windshield Reseal

Item Specification
ESSEX 2-HOUR CURE  
Urethane Adhesive Essex Express  
SIKA 2-HOUR CURE  
Urethane Adhesive Sika Tack ASAP  
ESSEX 24-HOUR CURE  
Urethane Adhesive Essex 400-HV WSB-M2G316-B
  1. Remove the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
  2. Remove the interior/map reading lamp. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR LIGHTING .
  3. Position the LH and RH front door weatherstrips aside.

  4. Remove the LH and RH windshield side garnish mouldings.

  5. Remove the 8 screws, the LH and RH sun visors and the sun visor clips.

  6. If equipped, remove the roof opening panel garnish moulding.

  7. Partially lower the front portion of the headliner and block with a suitable material.
  8. Clean the interior and exterior of the windshield glass surface with non-alcohol based glass cleaner.
  9. Cut the urethane adhesive applicator tip to specification.

  10. NOTE: Use either a high-ratio, electric or battery-operated caulk gun that will apply the urethane with less effort and continuous bead.
    NOTE: Make sure that all gaps in the urethane adhesive are smoothed into one continuous bead.
    NOTE: Make sure that the urethane adhesive does not interfere with the installation of the windshield side garnish moulding and headliner.
  11. Apply urethane adhesive over top of the existing urethane adhesive.
    • Apply the urethane to the top and sides of the windshield from the interior of the vehicle.
    • Apply the urethane to the bottom of the windshield from the exterior of the vehicle.
  12. NOTE: The urethane adhesive must cure for a minimum of 1 hour before testing for air or water leaks.
  13. After the urethane has cured, check the windshield seal for air or water leaks through the urethane bead and add urethane adhesive as necessary.
  14. Position the front portion of the headliner.
  15. If equipped, install the roof opening panel garnish moulding.

  16. Install the LH and RH sun visors, the sun visor clips and the 8 screws.

  17. NOTE: When installing the windshield side garnish mouldings, be sure the alignment tabs are positioned correctly.

  18. Install the RH and LH windshield side garnish mouldings.
  19. Install the LH and RH front door weatherstrips.

  20. Install the interior/map reading lamp. For additional information, refer to INTERIOR LIGHTING .
  21. Install the cowl panel grille. For additional information, refer to FRONT END BODY PANELS .
