Oil Pan: Removal

CAUTION: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan, can cause engine failure.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the front catalytic converter. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM .
  3. Remove the 2 bolts and the front catalytic converter bracket.

  4. Drain the engine oil and install the drain plug.
    • Tighten to 26 Nm (19 lb-ft).
  5. Remove and discard the oil filter.
  6. Remove the torque converter lower inspection cover.
  7. Remove the 2 oil pan-to-transaxle bolts.
  8. Remove the oil filter adapter-to-oil pan bolt.
  9. Remove the 15 bolts and the oil pan.
    • Remove and discard the gasket.
