Inspection and Verification
- Verify the customer concern by operating the speed control system.
- Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Refer to the following chart:

- Speed control cable adjustment
- Speed control cable damaged or binding
- Vacuum leaks at speed control actuator
- Misadjusted or damaged brake pedal
- Central junction box (CJB) fuses:
- 37 (10A)
- 51 (20A)
- Deactivator switch
- Brake pedal position (BPP) switch
- Speed control module
- Speed control indicator
- Speed control switch
- Relays
- Circuitry
- Wiring harness
- Check the horns for correct operation. If the horns do not operate correctly, refer to
HORN
.
Check the stoplamps for correct operation. If the stoplamps do not operate correctly, refer to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
Check the speedometer for correct operation. If the speedometer does not operate correctly, refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER - CONVENTIONAL (conventional cluster) or refer to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER - ELECTRONIC (electronic cluster). Test the system for normal operation.
- If the fault is not visually evident, verify the symptom and refer to the SYMPTOM CHART .
WARNING:
If the speed control system goes out of control or overspeeds during the road test, be prepared to turn off the system with the speed control switch (cruise off) or the ignition switch.
