Transmission Range Selector Lever: Disassembly

NOTE: Use a vise with vise jaw protectors for all work to be done in the vise.
  1. Disconnect the connector.
    • Push in the retaining tab.

  2. Pull the cables out of the connector.
    1. Pull the cable retainer out of the connector.
    2. Disconnect each cable and pull it out.

  3. Remove the selector lever knob.
    1. Remove the screw and pull off the selector lever knob.
    2. NOTE: Install a pull through wire for assembly.

    3. Carefully remove the O/D switch and wiring.
  4. Remove the cover.
    1. Remove the lamp.
    2. Lift off the shifter cover.

  5. Remove the park position switch and selector lever detent spring.

  6. Remove the solenoid switch and the upper part of the body.

  7. Remove the selector lever.
      NOTE: Removal direction of the pivot pin.
    • Drive out the pivot pin.
    • Pull out the selector lever.

  8. Remove the spring.
    1. Secure the spring.
    2. Drive out the retaining pin.
      • Pull out the plunger and spring.
      • Pull off the sleeve.
