Start Inhibit Relay

  1. Remove start inhibit relay from central junction box. Central junction box is located behind left side of instrument panel. Check start inhibit relay continuity. Continuity should exist between start inhibit relay terminals No. 1 and 2, and between terminals No. 3 and 4. See Fig 1 . Continuity should not exist between start inhibit relay terminals No. 3 and 5. If continuity is as specified, go to next step. If continuity is not as specified, replace start inhibit relay.
  2. Using a jumper wire, apply battery voltage to start inhibit relay terminal No. 1. Using a second jumper wire, ground start inhibit relay terminal No. 2. Continuity should now exist between start inhibit relay terminals No. 3 and 5. If continuity is not as specified, replace start inhibit relay. If continuity is as specified, start inhibit relay is okay at this time.
