Self-Diagnostic System
Remote keyless entry system utilizes a self-diagnostic system which may store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) if a problem exists in the system. DTCs may be retrieved using New Generation Star (NGS) tester or other OBD-II compliant scan tool and Data Link harness connector (DLC). Before performing any testing, perform TROUBLE SHOOTING
.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below instrument panel. Using scan tool, perform data link diagnostic test. If scan tool displays CKT 914, CKT 915 or CKT 70=ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, diagnose network fault. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - CROWN VICTORIA & GRAND MARQUIS article. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for Driver Door Module (DDM), perform TEST A: NO COMMUNICATION WITH DRIVER DOOR MODULE
under SYSTEM TESTS. If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for Lighting Control Module (LCM), perform TEST B: NO COMMUNICATION WITH LIGHTING CONTROL MODULE
under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If scan tool displays SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. Erase continuous DTCs. Perform self-test for DDM and LCM using scan tool. If DDM DTCs are retrieved, see DRIVER DOOR MODULE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX
