Torque Converter Service and Replacement: Check

  1. A new torque converter must be installed if one or more of the following statements are true:
    • A torque converter malfunction has been detected based on completed diagnostic procedures.
    • Converter stud(s), impeller hub or bushing is damaged.
      NOTE: Stud threads may be repaired using a "thread chaser"
    • If there is a discoloration of the torque converter (due to overheating).
    • The torque converter is found to be out of specification, when performing the following checks:
