Test G: Power Seat Does Not Move Horizontal/Vertical (With Memory)

  1. Disconnect memory power seat switch connector. Test memory power seat switch. See MEMORY POWER SEAT SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If memory power seat switch is okay, go to next step. If memory power seat switch is faulty, replace memory power seat switch.
  2. Measure resistance of circuits between Driver Seat Module (DSM) connector C2046B and memory power seat switch connector C389. See MEMORY POWER SEAT SWITCH CIRCUITS  table. See Figure and Figure . If all resistance measurements are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance measurement is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate circuit.
    MEMORY POWER SEAT SWITCH CIRCUITS

Memory Power Seat Switch Terminal No. DSM Terminal No. Wire Color
    3 46 Yellow/White
    8 35 Red/Light Green
    4 36 Yellow/Light Green
    12 37 Red/Light Green
    5 38 Brown/White
  3. Measure resistance between ground and memory power seat switch connector C389 at specified terminals. See MEMORY POWER SEAT SWITCH CIRCUITS  table. See Figure . If all resistance measurements are greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If any resistance measurement is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in appropriate circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  4. Disconnect seat motor assembly C357. Measure resistance between DSM connector C2046B and power seat motor connector C357 circuits. See MEMORY POWER SEAT MOTOR CIRCUITS  table. See Figure and Figure . If all resistance measurements are less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If any resistance measurement is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate circuit.
    MEMORY POWER SEAT MOTOR CIRCUITS

Power Seat Motor Terminal No. DSM Terminal No. Wire Color
    5 12 Orange
    4 15 Gray
    1 11 Green
    2 16 Yellow
  5. Measure resistance between ground and seat motor connector C357 at specified terminals. See MEMORY POWER SEAT MOTOR CIRCUITS  table. See Figure . If all resistance measurements are greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If any resistance measurement is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in appropriate circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  6. Using a 30-amp fused jumper wire, apply power and ground to specified seat motor pins. Apply voltage to pin No. 5, and ground to pin No. 4. Seat should move forward. Reverse jumper wires and seat should move in reverse direction. Apply voltage to pin No. 1, and ground to pin No. 2. Seat should move up. Reverse jumper wires, seat should move down. If seat moves in specified direction, replace DSM. If seat does not move in specified direction, replace seat track assembly.
