Test A: Power Seat Inoperative
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove fuse No. 28 (30-amp) from instrument panel fuse box. Inspect fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse. If fuse blows again, repair short to ground in Orange/Yellow wire.
- Measure voltage at input side of fuse No. 28 in instrument panel fuse box. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair power distribution circuit as necessary. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Install fuse No. 28. Disconnect power seat control switch harness connector. Measure voltage at Orange/Yellow wire terminal at power seat control switch harness connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Orange/Yellow wire.
- Measure resistance between ground and Black wire terminal(s) at power seat control switch harness connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or less and vehicle is equipped with 2-way power seats, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less and vehicle is equipped with 8-way power seats, replace power seat control switch. See POWER SEAT CONTROL SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire.
- Connect power seat control switch harness connector. Disconnect power seat motor harness connector. Measure voltage between Yellow/Black wire and White/Black wire terminals at power seat motor harness connector while operating power seat control switch to UP and DOWN positions. If battery voltage does not exist with opposite polarity, go to next step. If battery voltage exists with opposite polarity, replace power seat motor.
- Disconnect power seat control switch harness connector. Measure resistance of Yellow/Black wire between power seat control switch harness connector and power seat motor harness connector. Also, measure resistance of White/Black wire between power seat control switch harness connector and power seat motor harness connector. If both resistance readings are 5 ohms or less, replace power seat control switch. See POWER SEAT CONTROL SWITCH under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If either resistance reading is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire.
