Test C: Single Mirror Does Not Function With Switch Logic
NOTE:
Wire color changes between mirror control switch outside rear view mirrors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS

- Remove mirror control switch. Test mirror control switch. See MIRROR CONTROL SWITCH
under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, go to appropriate step. See TEST STEP
table. If switch is defective, replace mirror control switch.TEST STEP
Malfunction Go To Step Driver's Mirror Up/Down 2 Right/Left 6 Passenger's Mirror Up/Down 10 Right/Left 14 - Install mirror control switch. Remove driver's door trim panel. Disconnect driver's side mirror 5-pin harness connector C807. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place mirror control switch in driver's side adjustment position. Measure voltage between driver's side mirror harness connector C807 terminals No. 2 (Yellow wire) and No. 4 (White/Red wire) while operating mirror control switch to UP and DOWN positions. See Figure . If more than 10 volts exists in both positions with opposite polarity, replace driver's side mirror. If more than 10 volts exists in both positions but polarity does not change, check and repair short to power in Yellow or White/Red wire. If 10 volts or less exists in either position, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect mirror control switch 8-pin harness connector C740. Measure resistance of White/Red wire between mirror control switch harness connector C740 terminal No. 2 and driver's side mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 4. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open or high resistance in White/Red wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure resistance between mirror control switch harness connector C740 terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and driver's side mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open or high resistance in Yellow/Red wire or Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure voltage between ground and driver's side mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). Measure voltage between ground and driver's side mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 4 (White/Red wire). If voltage does not exist at both terminals, circuits are okay at this time. Problem may be intermittent. Repeat step 2 . If voltage exists at either terminal, repair short to power in appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Install mirror control switch. Disconnect driver's side mirror 5-pin harness connector C807. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place mirror control switch in driver's side adjustment position. Measure voltage between driver's side mirror harness connector C807 terminals No. 2 (Yellow wire) and No. 5 (White/Blue wire) while operating mirror control switch to RIGHT and LEFT positions. See Figure . If more than 10 volts exists in both positions with opposite polarity, replace driver's side mirror. If more than 10 volts exists in both positions but polarity does not change, check and repair short to power in Yellow or White/Blue wire. If 10 volts or less exists in either position, go to next step
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect mirror control switch 8-pin harness connector C740. Measure resistance of White/Blue wire between mirror control switch harness connector C740 terminal No. 5 and driver's side mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 5. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open or high resistance in White/Blue wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure resistance between mirror control switch harness connector C740 terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and driver's side mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair open or high resistance in Red/White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure voltage between ground and driver's side mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Red wire). Measure voltage between ground and driver's side mirror harness connector C807 terminal No. 5 (White/Blue wire). If voltage does not exist at both terminals, circuits are okay at this time. Problem may be intermittent. Repeat step 6 . If voltage exists at either terminal, repair short to power in appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Install mirror control switch. Remove passenger's door trim panel. Disconnect passenger's side mirror 5-pin harness connector C71. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place mirror control switch in passenger's side adjustment position. Measure voltage between passenger's side mirror harness connector C71 terminals No. 2 (Yellow wire) and No. 4 (White wire) while operating mirror control switch to UP and DOWN positions. See Figure . If more than 10 volts exists in both positions with opposite polarity, replace passenger's side mirror. If more than 10 volts exists in both positions but polarity does not change, check and repair short to power in Yellow or White wire. If 10 volts or less exists in either position, go to next step. If sub-harness is okay, replace passenger's side mirror.
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between mirror control switch harness connector C740 terminal No. 1 (White/Black wire) and passenger's side mirror harness connector C71 terminal No. 4 (White wire). See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open or high resistance in White/Black wire or White wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure resistance between mirror control switch harness connector C740 terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and passenger's side mirror harness connector C71 terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open or high resistance in Yellow/Red wire or Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure voltage between ground and passenger's side mirror harness connector C71 terminal No. 4 (White wire). Measure voltage between ground and passenger's side mirror harness connector C71 terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). If voltage does not exist at both terminals, circuits are okay at this time. Problem may be intermittent. Repeat step 10 . If voltage exists at either terminal, repair short to power in appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Install mirror control switch. Disconnect passenger's side mirror 5-pin harness connector C71. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Place mirror control switch in passenger's side adjustment position. Measure voltage between passenger's side mirror harness connector C71 terminals No. 2 (Yellow wire) and No. 5 (White/Red wire) while operating mirror control switch to LEFT and RIGHT positions. See Figure . If more than 10 volts exists in both positions with opposite polarity, replace passenger's side mirror. If more than 10 volts exists in both positions but polarity does not change, check and repair short to power in Yellow or White/Red wire. If 10 volts or less exists in either position, go to next step. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect mirror control switch 8-pin harness connector C740. Measure resistance between mirror control switch harness connector C740 terminal No. 5 (White/Violet wire) and passenger's side mirror harness connector C71 terminal No. 5 (White/Red wire). See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open or high resistance in appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Measure resistance between mirror control switch harness connector C740 terminal No. 3 (Yellow/Red wire) and passenger's side mirror harness connector C71 terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open or high resistance in Yellow/Red or Yellow wire.
- Measure voltage between ground and passenger's side mirror harness connector C71 terminal No. 5 (White/Red wire). Measure voltage between ground and passenger's side mirror harness connector C71 terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). If voltage does not exist at both terminals, circuits are okay at this time. Problem may be intermittent. Repeat step 14 . If voltage exists at either terminal, repair short to power in appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
