Visual Inspection

Turn ignition off. Raise and support vehicle. Inspect tires for proper size. Inspect sensor for missing or damaged teeth or for improperly installed sensor. If visual inspection is okay, go to next step. If any problem is found, repair as necessary and repeat system pre-check.

  1. Check Fault Repeatability

Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool. Turn ignition on. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  . Perform drive cycle test. See DRIVE CYCLE TEST  . Retrieve DTCs. Turn ignition off. If DTC C1184 or C1222 exists and/or ABS control was active during normal stops, go to next step. If DTC C1222 exists, replace ABCM. If C1184 exists, and ABS control was not active during test drive, replace ABCM. If C1184 was retrieve and ABS control was active during stops, go to next step. If different DTC exists, see DTC TEST INDEX  table.
  2. Check For Erratic Wheel Speed Signal

Clear DTCs. Capture ABS sensor signals from PIDs: LF_WSPI, LR_WSPI, RF_WSPI, and RR_WSPI. Repeat Drive Cycle Test. See DRIVE CYCLE TEST  . Monitor all sensor readings. If any sensor signal is erratic, varies or drops out while driving, go to DTC TEST INDEX  table. If all sensor signal readings were normal, repeat test drive. Check for DTCs. Check for damaged sensors and/or related wiring problems. If okay, repeat system pre-check.
