Rear Suspension: Description
The axle, stabilizer bar, stabilizer link, axle bumper stop and leaf spring mounting plates are normally replaced only when the part has been damaged or the vehicle has been involved in an accident. If a suspension part has been damaged, be sure to check the underbody dimensions of the vehicle. If the underbody dimensions are not in alignment, the vehicle must be straightened before the suspension parts are reinstalled. See Fig 1 .
The Villager is available with a handling package which includes the following components: P215/70R15 tires. Cast-aluminum wheels. Rear stabilizer bar. Modified spring rate leaf springs.
The rear wheels and brake drums are supported on a one-piece, non-serviceable, non-adjustable bearing. The inner race rides on the spindle, which is bolted to the axle. The bearing outer race is press-fit into the hub. A nut and cotter pin hold the hub/bearing assembly in place on the spindle. If the bearing requires service, it must be pressed from the hub and replaced as an assembly.
