Power Steering Pressure Switch

If a leak is detected at switch, tighten switch and recheck. If leak is not stopped, replace switch and "O" ring. If engine stalls during parking maneuvers, or idles at excessively high speed, perform following test.

  1. Disconnect pressure switch electrical connector. Connect continuity tester across switch terminals. Start engine and let idle. With steering wheel straight ahead, no continuity should be present.
  2. Turn steering wheel toward either stop, while watching meter. Switch should open near the stops. No continuity or infinite reading on meter should be noticed. If switch fails either test, replace switch. If switch is okay, check engine idle speed.
