Test B: Electronic Door Lock Control System Inoperative

  1. Check the 10A Electron Bat fuse located in the interior fuse junction panel. Check the 30A Power Window fuse located in the left hand engine compartment fuse junction panel. Are the fuses okay? If yes, go to step  4 . If no, go to next step.
  2. Turn key to OFF position. Replace the fuse(s) in question. Turn key to ON position. Do(es) the fuse(s) fail again? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to  4 .
  3. Turn key to OFF position. Remove the blown fuse(s). Disconnect the electronic door lock control processor connectors located behind the left hand instrument panel lower cover. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . Measure the resistance of the Purple wire between the left side of the 10A Electron Bat fuse holder and ground. See Fig 1 . Measure the resistance of the White/Blue wire between the terminal nearest the battery at the 30A Power Window fuse holder and ground. See Fig 2 . Are any of the resistances less than 5 ohms? If yes, service the wires in question for short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If no, replace fuses and then go to next step.
  4. Turn key to OFF position. Disconnect the electronic door lock control processor connectors. Measure the voltage on the Purple wire between the 20-terminal electronic door lock control processor connector and ground. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . Measure the voltage on the Light Green wire between the 8-terminal electronic door lock control processor connector and ground. Are the voltages greater than 10 volts? If yes, go to step  7 . If no and Purple wire is less than 10 volts, service the wire for open between electronic door lock control processor and interior fuse junction panel. If no and Light Green wire is less than 10 volts, go to next step. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  5. Turn key to OFF position. Remove the RH circuit breaker located behind the interior fuse junction panel. Measure the voltage on the White/Blue wire at the RH circuit breaker connector. Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? If yes, go to next step. If no, service White/Blue wire for open between circuit breaker and left hand engine compartment fuse junction panel. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  6. Turn key to OFF position. Remove the RH circuit breaker. Measure the resistance between terminals of the circuit breaker. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, service the Light Green wire for open between circuit breaker and the electronic door lock control processor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If no, replace circuit breaker. See RH CIRCUIT BREAKER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  7. Turn key to OFF position. Disconnect the electronic door lock control processor connectors. Measure the resistance of the Black wire between the 20-terminal electronic door lock control processor connector and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Measure the resistance of the Black wire between the 8-terminal electronic door lock control processor connector and ground. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, service the wire(s) in question for open.
  8. Turn key to OFF position. Disconnect the door lock touchpad connector located in the left hand front door. Measure the resistance of the Black wire between the door lock touchpad connector and ground. See CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to TEST A: ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM DOES NOT FUNCTION  . If the electronic door lock control system is still completely inoperative, replace the electronic door lock control processor. See ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCK CONTROL PROCESSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If no, service the Black wire for open. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
