Speed Control Actuator

  1. Turn key OFF. Disconnect the speed control actuator connector.
  2. Using a jumper, connect terminal No. 2 on the speed control actuator to the battery positive terminal. See Fig 1 .
  3. When terminal No. 3 is connected to the battery negative terminal, the speed control actuator should operate.
  4. Using a jumper, connect terminal No. 2 to the battery positive terminal while connecting terminals No. 1, 3, and 4 to the battery negative terminal. Verify that the speed control actuator pulls in.
  5. With the connections made as in the previous step, remove the jumper from terminal No. 3. Verify that the speed control actuator remains pulled in.
  6. With the connections made as in the previous step, remove the jumper from terminal No. 2. Verify that the speed control actuator releases immediately.
  7. If the speed control actuator does not operate as specified, replace the speed control actuator. See SPEED CONTROL ACTUATOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Otherwise, return to the Symptom Tests.
