Temperature Control System Test

  1. Start and warm engine to normal operating temperature. Turn blower motor switch to 4th position. Move mode control lever to vent position. Gradually move temperature control lever from extreme left to extreme right. If output air temperature does not gradually increase from cold to hot, check coolant level. Check engine thermostat for proper operation.
  2. If coolant level and thermostat are okay, check for blocked heater core. If heater core is not blocked, check for blocked air passages in blower case and heater case. If air passage are okay, adjust temperature control cable. See ADJUSTMENTS. If cable is adjusted, repair or replace heater case.
