Description & Operation

CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
WARNING: Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
CAUTION: Right hand mirrors are convex as noted on face of mirror. Objects seen in mirror are closer than they appear. The mirror should not be used to estimate relative distances of following vehicles when changing lanes.

Electric, remote control side view mirrors are used on both sides of the vehicle. The remote control mirror switch is located in the floor console. See Fig 1 . The switch controls adjustment for both the left and right mirrors. Both outside mirrors are spring loaded to swing out of the way on minor impacts.

When the ignition switch is in the ACCY or RUN position, current flows through the 15A Cigar fuse to the remote control mirror switch assembly. The right and left power mirrors can be adjusted by a single control switch. The left-right select switch, located next to the control switch, chooses the mirror to be adjusted. Each mirror is controlled by a remote control mirror motor assembly, which consists of two motors. One motor controls the left-right position of the mirror while the other motor controls the up-down position of the mirror. By moving the mirror controller, the selected mirror can be moved up or down and left or right by means of forward or reverse current flow through the mirror motor assembly.
