Ignition Timing

Place transmission in Park or Neutral with A/C and heater in "OFF" position. On Festiva, disconnect White connector located near distributor. On Tracer, disconnect single wire Black connector located near distributor. Remove vacuum hoses from distributor vacuum advance connection and plug hoses. Connect inductive timing light and tachometer.
Start engine and bring to operating temperature. Check and/or adjust timing to specification.
Check timing advance to verify distributor is advancing beyond the initial setting. Reconnect vacuum hoses. Stop engine. Reconnect single wire Black connector or White connector and remove test equipment.
