Fuel Pressure Regulator

Pressure regulator mounts to upper body of fuel charging assembly near rear of air horn surface. Regulator is positioned so that effects of supply line pressure drops are negated. Regulator is designed so that it is not affected by backpressure in return line to tank.

Second function of pressure regulator is to maintain fuel supply line pressure after engine and fuel pump stop. Regulator functions as downstream check valve and traps fuel between itself and fuel pump.

Maintenance of residual fuel pressure reduces fuel line vapor formation. This allows for easy restart when hot and stable idle operation immediately after restart. It regulates fuel pressure at injector nozzles to constant nominal value of 39 psi (2.7 kg/cm2 ).
