Dynamic - 2.0L

  1. Clean high pressure fuel line. Install pressure transducer around high pressure fuel line and lightly tighten. Ensure that entire contact surface of pressure transducer contacts fuel line.

  2. Install Injection Pump Rotating Tool (014-00413) on top of injection pump altitude compensator. Remove No. 3 front cam cover bolt and install turnbuckle bolt in its place. Remove plastic cover from flywheel access hole in transaxle housing.
  3. Install electromagnetic pickup adapter in access hole. Ensure that locating notch on adapter engages tip of flywheel timing mark pointer. See Fig 2 . Connect Rotunda Dynamic Timing Meter (078-00100) and 2.0L Timing Adapter Kit (078-00124) to engine as follows:

  4. Insert electromagnetic pickup into adapter. Connect signal cable to ground and to pressure transducer. Connect timing meter to battery ("+" to jump start terminal, "-" to ground). Set timing meter offset angle to -20°. RPM meter should indicate 0000.
  5. Start engine, install throttle control (014-00302) and set engine speed to 2000-2500 RPM (no load). Warm up engine until cooling fan comes on. Adjust engine speed to 740-760 RPM. Engine timing should be 8° BTDC.
  6. If timing is not within specifications, adjust pump timing as follows: Loosen 2 injection pump mounting nuts and 1 bolt 1/2 turn. Rotate turnbuckle counterclockwise to advance timing and clockwise to retard.

  7. Tighten injection pump mounting nuts to 14-19 ft. lbs. (19-26 N.m). Tighten mounting bolt to 23-34 ft. lbs. (31-46 N.m). Disconnect negative battery terminal before loosening or tightening lower fuel injection pump mounting bolt. Readjust injection timing, if necessary.
  8. If timing is within specifications, disconnect timing meter, remove injection pump rotating tool and install No. 3 front cam cover bolt.
