Test W - Diagnostics By Symptom

  1. If engine stalls, stalls in Self-Test, runs rough or misses, check the following: Poor power/ground connections, ignition system problem, engine internal problem (valves, cam timing, compression, etc.), EGR valve or fuel system.
  2. If engine detonation (spark knock) occurs or engine idles rough, go to TEST X - EGR CONTROL TEST  .
  3. If engine lacks fast idle during A/C operation, go to TEST R - IDLE SPEED CONTROL (ISC) - (DC MOTOR)  , step 4).
  4. If engine diesels or exhibits low idle speed on cold starts and high idle speed on hot starts, go to TEST I - KEY POWER CHECK  .
  5. If gasoline fumes accumulate under hood, go to TEST Y - CANISTER PURGE  .
