SUBJECT
Ignition Initial Timing for 1.6L/2.3L/2.3L H.S.C./2.8L Engines With EEC IV.
REFERENCE
Ford Technical Service Bulletin No. 83-10-3
CALIBRATIONS: All with EEC IV
CONDITION AND CAUSE
It is necessary to open the 324 spout circuit by disconnecting the wire at the in-line connector when checking the initial spark timing on engines with EEC IV systems. The connector is located between the distributor and engine harness take-out.
To observe the timing marks in the usual way an induction-type timing light can then be used. Actual spark timing should be checked with engine conditions as specified on the emission decal.
After the timing has been checked, the 324 wire must be reconnected.
