Mentor Assessment
Selecting the wrong mentor will be detrimental to the success of the program. Document the mentor's success factors based on the organization's culture and vision. These success factors should be used to develop an interview guide (see Figure personality assessment, portion of the mentor's scheduled appraisal and any additional measurement tool used by your company for shop employees. The qualifications/requirements listed above should be added to the mentor assessment where applicable. Be certain to document goals for the mentor and trainee and ensure that these goals are in alignment with company goals.
