Due to recent events, we would like to inform you about the following situation:
Recently it has been discovered that increasing numbers of seat belt buckles are being invoiced unjustifiably through warranty or goodwill channels and replaced with the following customer complaints:
- Closes poorly (fault type 41)
- Sluggish (fault type D6)
- Jams (fault type H2)
However, no material or manufacturing faults could be found on the removed seat belt buckles during the inspection. The cause of these customer complaints could also be a foreign object in the seat belt buckle head (see exemplary illustrations). Therefore, for the customer complaints mentioned above, the seat belt buckles must always be visually inspected for possible foreign objects.
If vehicles with glass breakage come into the workshop, the seat belt buckles should be checked as per the corresponding documentation (see table below) for proper operation for the reasons mentioned above, irrespective of a customer complaint.
In the event of damage due to external force (for example breaking and entering or vandalism) of if foreign objects are present (for example film, wood, fabric etc.) in the seat belt buckles, material or wage costs may not be invoiced through warranty or goodwill. If the inspection findings determine that there are or were foreign objects present in the seat belt buckles, we reserve the right to reject any warranty or goodwill claims made.
